FAQS

How many years have you been in business?

Since 1996, Rainbow has been providing care to the residents of Orange County for over 25 years.  For nearly 22 of those years, Rainbow has also been a vendor of the Regional Center of Orange County, providing supported living and homemaker services for the developmentally disabled.

Is Rainbow Home Care a franchise?

As a private, family-owned company, Rainbow Home Care offers a personalized services. Our employees and clients become part of the Rainbow family, allowing us the flexibility to tailor our care to each client's unique needs.

Does the company bond/insure their caregivers to protect clients and their families from liability?

Absolutely, all Rainbow staff are fully insured and bonded to protect our clients and their families.  A copy of our policy is provided with initial documents.

How do you select your caregiver?

Prior to selecting a caregiver or personal attendant, we personally meet with our clients and their families and conduct an in-home or facility evaluation to assess the specific needs of our clients. Upon developing a written Care Plan, we evaluate and screen our most qualified personal attendants and caregivers for each client. All caregivers are extensively screened prior to hire, with alcohol and drug screening, verifying Social Security information, driving record, and conducting a comprehensive criminal background check with the U.S. Department of Justice. We also thoroughly verify prior employment histories, check professional certifications and verify updated CPR and First Aid.

Does the company cover workers’ comp for those providing care?

Yes, Rainbow provides Worker’s Compensation insurance which covers all our employees, including caregivers during their shifts.  You, the client, are protected from liability.  Privately hiring a caregiver does not provide coverage.  With the extra costs and risks associated with hiring independent contractors, it is much better to choose an "employer-model" company that takes care of all the legal requirements.

How do you select and screen your caregiver/employees?

First Rainbow carefully selects qualified local applicants and thoroughly review their qualifications.  We recruit through a vast array of professional training organizations such as Health Career Colleges and local institutions of higher learning.  A proportion of our staff have healthcare qualifications such as Certified Nursing Assistants, Medical Assistants with back office training, Physical Therapists, Psychiatric Technicians and Home Health Aides.  All certifications and work experience is verified and certification in emergency medical procedures (CPR and First-Aid) is maintained by all staff

Do you do criminal background checks?  If so, what level? Local, state, out of state, national?

Rainbow conducts a certified U.S. Federal Dept. of Justice LiveScan background screening with fingerprints to ensure that there is no criminal record.  The LiveScan system is the gold standard, used by state government and throughout the home care industry.  A California Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check is also conducted to ensure the caregiver is fully-licensed, auto insurance is verified and a report is maintained on any vehicle that transports clients.

Are drug tests professionally administered to those providing care and processed by authorized laboratories?

A medically certified drug, alcohol and TB test by US Healthworks is performed and verified.  This organization works with a wide variety of businesses to ensure caregiver and attendant services offered are responsible and healthy.  Supervisors conduct thorough monthly on-site visits in the home of our clients.  Rainbow carefully monitors services in weekly supervisor meetings to fully ensure ongoing services are satisfactory and Care Plans are followed.  Communication to family members is available and encouraged to improve peace of mind for all.

What training/experience does the office staff have? Are they well-versed in issues and concerns of seniors and the disabled?

In addition to the screening of qualifications and ongoing individualized training according to the needs of the case (see above), Rainbow employees dedicate their lives and training to the concerns of the elderly, infirmed and disabled.  In as such, we understand that it takes an individual is who has the “heart” to provide caregiver services.  Rainbow is dedicated to providing staff that is patient, professional, qualified and responsive to the needs of our clients.

How can I ensure the caregiver?

Caregivers are employees of Rainbow Home Care.  After a timesheet of hours worked is submitted and verified, Rainbow pays the caregiver according to a pay schedule, we also pay all related employee expenses, including payroll, state and federal taxes, liability insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance. This means that our staff is fully insured.  A Rainbow administrator takes care of our employees so they are free to care for our clients.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 714-544-8070.

Are those providing the care employees of your company? Do they receive a W-2 from you?

Yes, all caregivers and staff are employees of Rainbow Home Care.  We are an ABHC-approved “employer-model” California incorporated company and do not use independent contractors.  This is the best and safest choice in home care for clients and their families.  It means you are shielded from the legal liability and financial risk that can occur if you hired a caregiver directly as an independent contractor.

Registries and private hiring involve the very real risk of Worker’s Comp claims filed against you (the client), along with possible back taxes and penalties due, plus an unsupervised “employee” in your home, there would be no recompense for theft, damages, etc.

We have valued caregivers who have been with our company for over a decade due to our commitment in providing a respectful, fair, equitable and flexible work environment.
